Camouflage Cake

My sweet little niece loves everything camo! Her blankets, her clothes, etc. So for her birthday, her mom asked me to make her a camouflage cake. My first thought was to cover the cake in fondant and then paint the camo on. But then I decided to just cover it with icing. I made icing in all the different camo colors. Then I traced a camo pattern. Then used a number 12 tip to "flood" each section.
Then I used an offset spatula to smooth it all down. I made sure to bring the design down around the edges of the cake to finish off the effect. It was a big hit at the party!

How did you trace the pattern onto the cake? I am wanting to do this for my son's birthday in a week and I can't seem to figure out how it'd done! I'm not much of a cake decorator so I'm having a hard time with this one. LOL

Jessica, I'd love to answer your question! Send me an email to the address at the bottom of the page and I will send you instructions for the cake.
